Technology News on Canadian Prime Minister Hack Attack

In the latest technology news out of Canada, it's reported that hackers have illegally accessed Canada's Conservative Party website and planted a bogus news story about PM Stephen Harper being rushed to the hospital after choking on his breakfast. While they were at it, they managed to make off with thousands of party donors' names and email addresses. The phony press release claimed that Harper was eating breakfast with his kids when a piece of hash-brown lodged in his throat, and he had to be flown to Toronto General Hospital for treatment. Harper's press secretary confirmed that the story was a hoax and that the Prime Minister was fine.

The hacked site was quickly taken offline, but it's back up now. A hackers' group called LulzRaft has taken credit for the work on its Twitter page, tweeting that the conservatives said no data was accessed, and posting a link to a cache of 5,600 contributors' names and email addresses to prove this claim was false.
